Shipping, Transfers & Returns Policy
Last updated: August 29, 2026
This policy explains shipping charges, fulfillment locations, order processing, firearm transfers, restricted-product documentation, cancellations, returns, exchanges, and refunds for purchases from Skogen’s Outdoors. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, State Compliance & Restricted Products page, and Firearm Purchases guidance. Customers are responsible for confirming that a product may lawfully be purchased, possessed, received, and transferred in their jurisdiction.
Shipping Rates and Free Shipping
- Standard shipping is $13.95 when the merchandise subtotal from a fulfillment location is less than $300.
- Free standard shipping applies when the merchandise subtotal from that fulfillment location is $300 or more.
- The $300 threshold is calculated after product discounts and before shipping.
- Products fulfilled from the same location receive only one shipping charge, even if they arrive in multiple boxes.
Shipping charges and separate fulfillment packages are displayed in the cart and checkout before payment.
1. Orders shipped from multiple locations
Some orders contain products stocked at different fulfillment locations. These items may ship separately, and each location’s merchandise subtotal is evaluated independently for free shipping.
- A $250 order fulfilled from one location receives one $13.95 shipping charge.
- A $350 order fulfilled from one location qualifies for free standard shipping.
- A $200 item from one location and a $150 item from another location receive two $13.95 shipping charges, even though the combined order exceeds $300.
- A $325 package from one location ships free, while a $125 package from another location receives a $13.95 shipping charge.
All shipping charges and separate fulfillment packages will be disclosed in the cart and checkout before payment.
2. Free Montana in-store pickup
Free in-store pickup is available for eligible products physically stocked at our Montana location. Select “Free in-store pickup — Montana” during checkout when that option is displayed.
Distributor-fulfilled products are not eligible for Montana in-store pickup unless specifically stated.
3. Firearms, suppressors, and regulated products
Firearms and other regulated products must be transferred through an eligible Federal Firearms Licensee when required by law. Our checkout system will guide the customer through selecting an appropriate receiving dealer.
Shipping charges do not include transfer, background-check, storage, or processing fees charged by the receiving dealer. Customers should contact their selected dealer before ordering to confirm that the dealer accepts transfers, will handle the specific product, and to ask about applicable fees.
Suppressors and other NFA-regulated products are subject to additional federal requirements and processing.
4. Ammunition and special-handling products
Ammunition and certain limited-quantity or regulated products may be restricted to ground transportation. Product eligibility, age requirements, documentation requirements, carrier limitations, and destination restrictions are determined during checkout.
5. Tracking and separate deliveries
Products fulfilled from different locations may arrive on different dates. Tracking information will be provided as it becomes available for each shipment. Multiple boxes from one fulfillment location remain subject to the single applicable shipping charge for that location.
6. Order acceptance and verification
An order confirmation acknowledges that we received an order; it is not final acceptance. We may place an order on hold, request additional information, limit quantities, or cancel an order when required for legal, compliance, fraud-prevention, inventory, pricing, payment, or shipping reasons. Products will not be shipped until payment and any required compliance review are complete.
7. Shipping addresses and customer information
Customers must provide accurate billing, shipping, contact, and recipient information. Restricted products may be shipped only to an address or licensed dealer permitted by law. We do not redirect restricted-product shipments in transit. Address changes after an order is placed may require cancellation and a new order. Additional shipping charges resulting from a requested or required change in fulfillment may apply and will be disclosed before shipment when practicable.
8. Firearm shipments and FFL transfers
Firearms are shipped only to a valid Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), unless an exception is expressly permitted by law. The customer must select or provide an eligible receiving dealer and is responsible for confirming that the dealer will accept the shipment, complete the transfer, and handle the specific firearm.
The receiving dealer must complete all required identity, residency, background-check, waiting-period, permit, and transfer procedures before releasing a firearm. Shipment to an FFL does not guarantee that a transfer will be approved.
9. State and local compliance documents
Some jurisdictions require a firearm license, purchase permit, FOID/FID card, ammunition eligibility document, identification, proof of age, or other documentation. When FFL Checkout or another secure checkout workflow requests these materials, the customer must upload complete, legible, unexpired documents through that secure process within 10 calendar days of our request. Do not email sensitive identification documents unless Skogen’s Outdoors specifically provides a secure method and instructs you to do so.
Orders may be held, modified, or canceled if documentation is late, incomplete, inconsistent, expired, or legally insufficient. Any cancellation fee or nonrecoverable cost described below may apply where lawful.
10. Shipping timing and delivery
Shipping estimates begin after payment, inventory, FFL information, and required compliance documents are approved. Estimates are not guarantees. Carrier delays, weather, holidays, high order volume, regulatory review, distributor processing, and dealer response times can affect delivery. Adult signature or direct signature may be required.
Customers should promptly track deliveries and make appropriate arrangements for signature-required packages. We are not responsible for carrier delays, unsuccessful delivery attempts, or charges caused by inaccurate customer information, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
11. Damaged, incorrect, or missing shipments
Inspect every shipment promptly. Report visible damage, a missing item, or an incorrect item within 3 business days of delivery by contacting sales@skogensoutdoors.com or 406-468-5494. Retain the product, packaging, shipping carton, labels, and all contents. Photographs may be required. Do not return an item without authorization.
For a firearm, inspect the firearm completely at the receiving FFL before completing the transfer. If the firearm is damaged, incorrect, or materially not as ordered, refuse the transfer and contact us immediately.
12. Eligible general-merchandise returns
Eligible general merchandise may be returned within 30 calendar days after delivery. An item must be new, unused, uninstalled, unmounted, unaltered, and complete, with its original packaging, manuals, accessories, and proof of purchase. Skogen’s Outdoors must issue return authorization before the item is shipped back.
We may reduce or deny a refund for an item showing use, installation, mounting marks, alteration, missing parts, damaged packaging beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the product, or other loss in value.
13. Firearms and serialized products
A firearm may be returned only before the receiving dealer completes the transfer to the customer. Once a firearm has been transferred, the sale is final except where applicable law requires otherwise. After-transfer defects normally must be addressed through the manufacturer’s warranty or repair process. Skogen’s Outdoors will assist with manufacturer contact when reasonably possible but does not control warranty decisions.
14. Nonreturnable and final-sale products
The following are final sale unless defective, incorrectly shipped, or returnable by law:
- Ammunition and primers;
- Opened reloading components, chemicals, cleaners, oils, or hazardous materials;
- Firearms after transfer;
- NFA products after registration, tax-stamp, or transfer paperwork processing has begun;
- Special-order, custom-configured, personalized, or modified products;
- Clearance or final-sale items identified as such;
- Gift cards and downloadable or digital products;
- Products that cannot be resold for safety, hygiene, legal, or regulatory reasons.
15. Optics, accessories, and electronic products
Eligible optics and accessories must meet the general return conditions above. Mounted optics, installed parts, fitted holsters, used electronics, or products with removed protective films may show loss of value and may be ineligible for return. Manufacturer warranty service may be the appropriate remedy for defective products after use or installation.
16. Return authorization process
- Contact us within the applicable return period at sales@skogensoutdoors.com or 406-468-5494.
- Provide the order number, item, reason for return, and photographs when relevant.
- Wait for written return authorization and return instructions.
- Package the item securely and use a trackable, insured service when instructed.
Unauthorized returns, collect-on-delivery shipments, and packages sent to an address other than the authorized return address may be refused.
17. Return shipping and original charges
If we shipped the wrong item or the item arrived damaged or defective and the claim is timely approved, Skogen’s Outdoors will provide instructions and may cover reasonable return shipping. For discretionary returns, the customer is responsible for return shipping, insurance, and safe packaging.
Original shipping charges—including separate charges assessed for different fulfillment locations—dealer fees, transfer fees, storage fees, compliance-service fees, and other third-party or nonrecoverable charges are not refundable unless required by law or caused by our error. If an exchange or replacement must ship from a different fulfillment location, the applicable shipping charge will be disclosed before the replacement order is completed.
18. Inspection and refunds
Returned merchandise is inspected before a refund is approved. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method, generally within 5–10 business days after inspection. Banks and card issuers may require additional processing time. We may deduct lawful restocking, cancellation, shipping, damage, missing-part, dealer, storage, or other nonrecoverable charges disclosed in this policy.
A partial return does not retroactively create or remove a shipping charge from the original order. Refunds are based on the approved returned merchandise and any refundable charges required by law.
19. Exchanges
Exchanges are subject to availability and the same eligibility and authorization requirements as returns. We may process an exchange as a return and a new order. Price differences and shipping charges calculated for the new fulfillment location or locations may apply.
20. Cancellations
Contact us immediately to request cancellation. We cannot guarantee cancellation after processing or shipment begins. A cancellation or restocking charge of up to 15% may apply where lawful, particularly when payment processing, compliance review, special ordering, dealer coordination, or shipment has begun. Actual nonrecoverable third-party and shipping costs may also be deducted where lawful.
21. Denied, delayed, refused, or failed firearm transfers
If a background check is denied or unresolved, the customer is legally ineligible, the receiving dealer refuses the transfer, required documents are not supplied, or the firearm is prohibited at the destination, the firearm will not be released. The customer is responsible for arranging a lawful resolution with Skogen’s Outdoors and the receiving dealer.
If the firearm must be returned, exchanged, or sold on consignment, any lawful cancellation or restocking charge, dealer fee, return shipping, insurance, storage, and other nonrecoverable costs may be deducted. No refund is issued until the firearm is returned to and accepted by Skogen’s Outdoors, when a return is permitted.
22. Unclaimed firearms
A customer must complete pickup within 30 calendar days after the receiving dealer gives notice that the firearm is available, unless a different written arrangement is approved. Dealer storage charges and policies are separate from Skogen’s Outdoors. An unclaimed firearm remains subject to applicable laws, dealer policies, return-shipping costs, storage fees, cancellation or restocking charges, and other nonrecoverable costs. Ownership is not transferred merely because payment was made.
23. NFA-regulated products
Suppressors and other NFA-regulated products require special federal and sometimes state procedures. Orders are final once registration, tax-stamp, or transfer paperwork processing begins, except where law requires otherwise. Government processing times are estimates only. A denial, withdrawal, abandonment, or customer-caused documentation failure does not automatically entitle the customer to a full refund; lawful nonrecoverable costs and fees may be deducted.
24. Manufacturer warranties
Many products are covered by a manufacturer warranty. Warranty coverage, repair, replacement, and turnaround time are controlled by the manufacturer. We may help direct a customer to the appropriate warranty channel, but Skogen’s Outdoors does not expand or replace a manufacturer warranty unless expressly stated in writing.
25. Exceptions required by law
Nothing in this policy limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived. If a provision conflicts with applicable law, that provision will be applied only to the maximum extent permitted, and the remainder of the policy will continue in effect.
26. Contact us
Questions, return requests, and shipping claims should be directed to sales@skogensoutdoors.com or 406-468-5494. Include your name and order number, but do not send sensitive identification or firearm-license documents by ordinary email.
