This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our website, contact us, create an account, place an order, arrange shipment or a regulated-product transfer, or otherwise interact with us.

1. Scope

This policy applies to information collected through the Skogen’s Outdoors website and related customer-service and order-fulfillment activities. It does not govern third-party websites or services that maintain their own privacy policies.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Account information, such as login credentials, saved addresses, and account preferences.
  • Order and transaction information, including products purchased, order history, payment status, returns, shipment details, communications, and records associated with a transaction.
  • Payment and financing information. Payment-card and financing information is submitted to payment or financing providers. Skogen’s may receive transaction identifiers, authorization results, and related records, but payment providers control their own processing practices.
  • FFL and regulated-product information, including the selected receiving dealer, dealer contact and license-related information, transfer status, and other information reasonably necessary to coordinate a lawful transfer.
  • Communications, including information submitted through our contact form, such as your name, email address, optional phone number, topic, optional order number, and message.
  • Technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring source, pages viewed, search activity, session information, and information collected through cookies or similar technologies.
  • Information from service providers and business partners, such as payment status, shipment updates, receiving-dealer information, fraud-prevention signals, and distributor fulfillment information.

3. How we use information

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and store.
  • Process payments, orders, returns, refunds, and customer-service requests.
  • Arrange shipping, distributor fulfillment, and delivery.
  • Coordinate lawful firearm or other regulated-product transfers with receiving FFLs.
  • Communicate about orders, accounts, transfers, product availability, and inquiries.
  • Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems.
  • Maintain business, tax, accounting, warranty, dispute, and compliance records.
  • Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and regulatory obligations.
  • Enforce our terms and protect Skogen’s, our customers, and others.

4. How we disclose information

We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to:

  • Website and technology providers, including WordPress, WooCommerce, hosting, maintenance, security, and communications providers.
  • Payment and financing providers, including Authorize.net and Credova, when you choose the applicable service.
  • Shipping and fulfillment providers, including ShipStation, carriers, distributors, and vendors involved in fulfilling an order.
  • FFL-transfer providers and receiving dealers, including g-FFL Cockpit, g-FFL Checkout, and the dealer selected or otherwise involved in a regulated transfer.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, insurance, fraud-prevention, compliance, or safety purposes.
  • A successor organization, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of the business, subject to applicable law.

These recipients may use information only as permitted by their contracts, their own privacy policies, and applicable law. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or the integrity of a transaction.

5. Sale and targeted advertising

Skogen’s does not sell personal information for money. We do not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable state privacy laws. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required notice and opt-out method.

6. Payments and financing

Payments are processed through third-party payment services, including Authorize.net. If you apply for or use financing through Credova, the information you provide is processed by Credova under its own terms and privacy policy. Skogen’s receives information needed to confirm and administer the transaction. Please do not send full payment-card numbers or financing credentials through email or our contact form.

7. Firearm and regulated-product transactions

Orders involving firearms or other regulated products may require disclosure of customer, order, and product information to transfer-service providers, distributors, receiving FFLs, carriers, regulators, or law-enforcement authorities as necessary to complete, verify, document, or review the transaction. Receiving dealers and government authorities may collect additional information directly under their own legal obligations and privacy practices.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate shopping-cart, checkout, login, preference, security, and order-attribution features. Blocking cookies may prevent parts of the store from functioning correctly. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Third-party services activated during checkout or financing may use their own technologies under their respective privacy policies.

8A. Analytics, heatmaps, and session replay

We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and store activity. Google Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device information, product impressions and selections, cart activity, checkout initiation, and completed-purchase events. Ecommerce reporting may include product identifiers, quantities, and order values, but is not intended to receive full payment-card numbers or regulated-transfer documents. Google may use cookies or similar technologies subject to your consent choices and Google’s Privacy Policy.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors navigate and interact with the website through aggregated behavioral analytics, heatmaps, and session-replay technology. Clarity may collect page visits, clicks, scrolling, cursor movement, device and browser information, and related interaction data. Form inputs and dropdown selections are masked, and we configure additional masking for sensitive customer and transaction areas. Microsoft processes this information under the Microsoft Privacy Statement and Clarity Terms.

Where a consent notice is displayed, you may accept or reject nonessential analytics and later change your preferences through the website’s cookie controls. You may also restrict cookies through your browser or use available Google Analytics opt-out tools. Rejecting analytics does not prevent use of the shopping cart, checkout, account, or other essential store functions.

8B. Cookie details and preferences

9. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, complete transactions and transfers, maintain business and tax records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and comply with legal or regulatory obligations. Retention periods vary according to the type of information and the reason it is held. We may retain or decline to delete information where preservation is required or permitted by law.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Customers are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should contact us promptly if they suspect unauthorized account activity.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal information and access that information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Request deletion of personal information.

If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision and stating that you wish to appeal. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

12. Children’s privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases of firearms, ammunition, and other regulated products are subject to applicable age and eligibility requirements. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and address the matter.

13. Third-party websites and social media

Our website may link to social-media platforms, receiving dealers, manufacturers, financing providers, carriers, and other third-party websites. Information you provide directly to those services is governed by their privacy policies. Skogen’s is not responsible for the privacy practices of unaffiliated third parties.
